چکیده مقاله
Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells are at the dawn of commercialization and competing with fossil fuels and other energy sources to produce clean electricity in a variety of sectors. Their operation and design characteristics, hence their performance, are closely linked to the multiphase transport of mass, heat, and electricity in the cell constituents, a critical of which is the gas diffusion layer (GDL). hence understanding the mechanism of its degradation and studying the contribution of each degradation factor during fuel cell operation is essential. In this case, it is possible to use strategies to mitigate GDL degradation and investigate the effect of GDL durability on other PEM fuel cell components. moreover, further studies on the durability of GDL will extend the lifetime of fuel cell-based vehicles, and stationary systems and promote the commercialization of PEM fuel cell applications. As a result, considering the drastic impact of GDLs degradation on the performance of PEM fuel cells, it seems that this issue should be given more attention.
