چکیده مقاله
Corrosion is described as the damage of metals and alloys by chemical or electrochemical interaction with their surrounding environment [1]. In the classification of corrosion reactions based on the nature of corrosive environments, they are divided into dry and wet corrosion [2]. Another classification of corrosion process is based on morphology of metal damage. According the classification, corrosion process contains general corrosion, pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion, crevice corrosion, de-alloying; galvanic, environmentally induced fracture, and erosion-corrosion [3]. There are several methods to protect the metal from corrosion including coating, cathodic protection, anodic protection, alloying, and laser. Corrosion inhibitors widely applied in reducing metallic waste during production and in reducing the risk of material failure, both of which can lead to the sudden closure of industrial processes, which in turn leads to additional costs. It is also important to apply corrosion inhibitors to prevent the dissolution of minerals and reduce acid consumption [4]. Nanostructured materials are important compounds due to their unique properties that can lead to new and exciting applications. There are different nanomaterials for corrosion control. In the present study, nanostructured materials based on self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) are introduced as inhibitor compounds. SAMs are a simple, powerful, and highly flexible means of functionalizing a solid surface. SAMs can be spontaneously formed by the immersion of a substrate into a solution of reactive molecules in an organic solvent.
