چکیده مقاله |
Due to the increasing consumption of fossil fuels and the subsequent creation of environmental pollution, the development of clean and sustainable energy has received more and more attention from researchers. As the main reaction in many renewable energy conversion and storage systems, such as metal-air batteries and fuel cells, the Oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) determines the energy conversion efficiency in these systems. But the ORR reaction, due to its slow kinetics, causes limitations in the commercialization of these systems. Therefore, it is necessary to develop efficient ORR electrocatalysts for widespread use in electrochemical energy conversion and storage systems So far, platinum-based catalysts have been known as the most active electrocatalysts for ORR. However, these catalysts have disadvantages such as high cost, low abundance, low resistance to methanol crossover, which cause problems in their industrial-scale applications. As a result, the development of electrocatalysts based on non-precious materials abundant in the earth to replace materials based on platinum metal is of great importance. In this regard, transition metals single atoms (TM) doped with nitrogen, which are placed on carbon substrates, have shown better performance in accelerating the ORR reaction. In fact, these electrocatalysts are connected to carbon substrates through the bond between metal and nitrogen, which are known as active sites for ORR. Among transition metals, nickel metal (Ni) has been less studied and investigated, which leads to the creation of a research era for this topic |
